Hernando is passionately dedicated to helping ambitious start-ups achieve their full potential. Drawing on his extensive experience in investment banking, as a mentor and advisor to start-ups, as well as his active role in some of the leading not-for-profit business organisations, he founded Adykai Ventures to support and mentor entrepreneurs to build lasting and transformational businesses.
Prior to forming Adykai Ventures, Hernando was a Director in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (“TMT”) practice at Barclays investment bank in Europe, advising leading public and private companies in a variety of sectors including internet, digital media, enterprise software, fintech, IT services, and telecom equipment, among others. In this role, he advised over 35 completed deals worth over $40 billion that included some landmark buy-side and sell-side transactions, capital raising (IPOs and debt) and other strategic advisory initiatives.
Before Barclays, Hernando worked for Needham & Company in San Francisco and began his career with KPMG in New York and Chicago.
Over the years, he learned from his colleagues, clients and other advisors, some of the best ways to analyze businesses and markets, create a winning playbook and processes, and build high performing teams. He now shares those insights with Adykai Ventures portfolio companies.
Hernando has been living in London for the past eight years and retains strong ties to the United States and Asia. Even though he watches European sports, he still keeps up with the Chicago Cubs and the NBA. He is also an avid snowboarder. He has an MBA from Chicago Booth and a bachelor’s degree from Washington University.
